Build the Wall of Self Control

So here goes how we did our Family Devotions for Proverbs 25:28 “Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.”


  1. Bible
  2. Printed copy of Proverbs 25:28
  3. Building blocks
  4. Dinosaur or anything that can signify destruction
  5. Weekly reward chart

First and most importantly, we dedicated our Family Devotional to the Lord through prayer. We asked our eldest son, Caleb to read Proverbs 25:28. Since the verse contains figurative language we had to be creative so they will understand. We asked them to build a wall using their building blocks to protect their other toys from the dinosaur who will try to break the wall. Well, my two year old decided to be the dinosaur and she did a good job! Haha! Continue reading


Tips for Your Family Devotionals

Before I get into how we did our family devotions on Proverbs 25:28, allow me to share with you a little family devotionals 101.

First of all, having family devotions is not the “be all and end all” for our children to be Christians. That is not our job. It is solely the grace of God and the working of the Holy Spirit.
