We are all familiar with the Parable of the Lost Son. This parable is also known as the Parable of the PRODIGAL SON. The word prodigal means wastefully extravagant or reckless usage of resources. And no wonder it is named as such because of how the LOST son squandered the father’s generosity.
Of all the parables of Jesus, this one is so full of emotion. And in one way or another, we could identify ourselves with the characters. At some time in our lives, we could be the prodigal son who rebelled against the father or we could also be the elder son who was obedient but had pride in his heart. Both sons were lost, both never saw the beauty of being with the father. Yet both received a response from Him. And His response was that of extravagant love and overflowing grace. Continue reading
