New Year. New Opportunities.

Today, January 16, 2019, I turn 33 years old. It is truly a new year for me. I believe the Lord has also prepared new opportunities for me. New opportunities to be used by God and to glorify Him. And this first blog for 2019 is one of the opportunities that God has given me and my family to serve Him.

And so the question raised is why blog?

This direction started when I had my third child last 2016. When Zara was born, I resigned from a volunteer job that I had for almost 8 years to supposedly homeschool my two other kids, Caleb and Zoe. But that didn’t materialize. It simply wasn’t the perfect time for us to do so. So I asked God: What should I do if not this, Lord? And the Lord led me to these verses

Titus 2:3-5 “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

To confirm the message of this biblical excerpt, an elder woman who I have met has lent me a book titled “Feminine Appeal: Seven Virtues of a Godly Wife and Mother” by Carolyn Mahaney, It expounded the idea of Titus 2, focusing on the context of verse 4. By then, I knew in my heart this was what God wants me to do, to encourage younger wives and mothers to be who God designed them to be – to love their husbands and children, to have self-control, to be pure, to be workers at home, and to be kind.

Now the question is how and who specifically? At that time, having an infant and two other students with no househelp just made it difficult to do so. But my situation was actually God’s preparation for me. From 2016-2018, God changed and purified me. And He still is. In so doing, it doesn’t mean that I have all the answers because I don’t. It doesn’t mean I am an expert in my role as a wife and mother. Definitely not. I am in need of the Lord everyday to fulfill my roles that will glorify the Lord. Most days, I have failed but God’s mercy doesn’t. His grace and strength doesn’t.

July 2017, I landed on a new job and it made even more challenging to blog. Along the way, I saw how unworthy I was to do this. So I placed it aside. Blogging can be placed aside but parenting cannot.

Then the Lord led my husband and me to be intentional about our parenting especially in the aspect of their spiritual lives. More than good behavior, good grades, and a comfortable life, we desire nothing more but to raise kids who will love and serve the Most High God. We desire that they love His Word and prayer. We want them to love and live the Gospel of Jesus that can be the only source of joy in this life. We want them to catch the faith we have and even far more than what we have. Who else can better teach and live that than the ones God entrusted these lives with – us – their parents? Thus, our family devotions happened last July 2018.

We started off with the Book of Proverbs and we just ended last December 2018. This year, we just started with a new series about the Attributes of God. Because they are kids with short attention span, we had to be creative for them to understand what was in the Bible.  Spur of the moment, I started sharing summaries of our family devotions through my insta-stories. To my surprise it drew out some positive responses. This led me to reconsider blogging. It took time for me to really get myself in doing this, especially I had privacy issues. But God’s calling and confirmation has been consistent as 2018 ended. Now, I am making a step of faith, a big one.

As I start this new journey, my only desire is to be able to share God’s Word in whatever way I can, to be a blessing and to solely glorify Him.

Let me end in a prayer and I encourage you to join me because after all this is not about me, my husband or my family. This is still all about the Lord.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your love and grace. Thank You for the confidence that we have in Christ. In obedience Lord I dedicate this blog to You. I dedicate this website to You. This is for You and Your glory. Use this Lord in whatever way You want to encourage and urge every wife and mother, young and old to obey Your calling, to embrace it and to trust You to enable us to be who You want us to be. Our call to be faithful to our Lord. Our call to love and submit to our husbands. Our call to love our children and be home makers. Our call to serve You through our homes, offices, and churches. Let Your Name alone be glorified.

In Your Name, I pray, Amen 🙏

Excited to share this journey with you!

P. S. – I’ve attached a PDF copy of the first few pages of the book I mentioned. Maybe you’d want to read it too. If you are interested in reading the whole book, I have attached a link below where you can purchase it. If you get to read it, please do not hesitate to email or contact me about your thoughts about it. I would love to hear from you.
